Custom Dyneema® Webbing
Sturges Manufactures High-Strength UHMWPE (Dyneema®) Webbing
UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) fiber is used to weave some of the strongest webbing. Stronger, lighter, and thinner than webbing made from traditional fibers, UHMWPE Dyneema® webbings are popular for applications requiring high strength and low stretch, and where corrosion is possible or expected. Our high-performance UHMWPE Webbing is a critical component for life-threatening jobs that cannot afford a snap or break. Due to its water-resistant properties and floating capabilities, UHMWPE webbing is often used for marine applications or off-shore rigging.
Sturges UHMWPE webbings are rigorously tested in our accredited test lab to ensure our products conform to the highest industry standards for critical applications.
With excellent resistance to mildew, UV damage, abrasion, acids, alkalis, oil, and gases, and heat-safe up to 300°F, UHMWPE webbing is excellent for a variety of rugged, outdoor applications. UHMWPE webbing is available in a variety of dimensions and colors.

FAQs About UHMWPE Webbing
What characteristics does UHMWPE webbing have?
UHMWPE webbing has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, high abrasion resistance, low specific gravity, it is UV stable, chemically inert except for strong oxidizing acids, and resistant to fatigue & internal friction.
What is Dyeema® webbing?
Dyeema® webbing is a brand of UHMWPE known for its superior strength and excellent abrasion resistance. It is 15 times stronger than steel and does not absorb water.
How does UHMWPE webbing compare to other high‑strength webbings?
UHMWPE (ultra‑high‑molecular‑weight polyethylene) webbing is exceptionally strong and lightweight compared to other high-performance webbings like Kevlar® or polyester. It offers high tensile strength with minimal stretch, excellent abrasion resistance, and low density, making it ideal for applications where strength-to-weight ratio is critical. Unlike Kevlar®, UHMWPE maintains superior performance in moist or corrosive environments and, compared to polyester, provides higher strength while remaining significantly lighter, making it a preferred choice for aerospace, marine, and industrial lifting applications.
Is UHMWPE webbing UV- or chemical-resistant?
Yes. UHMWPE webbing is highly resistant to UV exposure, moisture, and most chemicals, making it ideal for demanding outdoor and industrial environments. Its fibers maintain strength and durability even when exposed to sunlight, saltwater, or common industrial chemicals, ensuring reliable performance in applications such as marine rigging, lifting slings, and high-performance industrial straps.
Can UHMWPE webbing be sewn or assembled into finished products?
Sturges Manufacturing can sew and assemble UHMWPE webbing into finished components such as harnesses, slings, tethers, and straps. Our team uses specialized stitching techniques and quality control processes to ensure that the strength, durability, and performance of UHMWPE are maintained in the final product, meeting the demanding requirements of industrial, aerospace, and safety-critical applications.
